I'm not sure how to put this, but I was looking at the Keepers/Contracts rules and thought that salaries escalate quickly by a substantial amount. I think it would be hard to keep a lot of players (create a dynasty) because the salary increases by $3 after year 1. So if I were to keep 10 players, my salary would automatically increase by $30. That seems like a lot to me.
In my other dynasty league, we don't have the salaries increase until year 3. After the 3 years, all players kept for longer than the 3 years will have a salary increase by $5 for each additional year kept. This at least gives the owner a good couple years with the team first drafted.
So I guess what I am proposing is to not have salaries increase for kept players until Year 3 or so.

I see what you're saying, just for me personally here are ther benefits that I saw to the league:
1) The no long-term contracts + in-season cap increase will encourage more trading & player movement. In my experience teams are reluctant to add salary that moves them beyond the 260 cap because most leagues have penalties associated with releasing players mid-contract. The point being in this league it will be much easier to go 'all in' and get back down to the 260 cap in the off-season without incurring penalties.
2) The pay structure for rookies is extemely cap-friendly. As long as you develop players consistently through your farm system, which is critical for a dynasty team, you should be able to afford salary increases for your veterans. If nothing else it makes you think critically about who you can/can't keep in the off-season.
3) To me this is the most important - it combines keeper league elements while providing hope for the teams that don't do well in year 1. While it would be great to have all 16 owners stick together for years to come, it's going to be tough to keep active owners in the bottom of the league if free agency the first 2 off-seasons offers no one of real value. If an owner of a not so great team leaves where is the hope for a prospective new owner?
Just my 2 cents

Can't agree with you more Dusty.
Increasing the salary in year in by $3 allows you to keep players for a solid two years (initial year you win them in the auction and the next year) and the addition $5 for Year 3 isn't that bad, especially for an undervalued player.
The minor league draft and farm system are where the long-term "Dynasty" players will come from.
I know everyone is committed now, but if someone drops out next season with a bad team, it would be hard to find a replacement owner if too many good players are unavailable. In one Dynasty league I am in, we had to offer a team for free just to get someone to take it over and lower the prize payout last year as a result.

I see what you are saying, but how many players will really still be available to new owners. With 16 teams, I am betting that most owners will keep at least 10 players and probably more. Maybe if we have trouble finding owners, we can have a supplemental type draft where each owner is allowed to protect "so many" players and then the new owners can have their own draft of unprotected players. Besides, an owner wanting to come into this league will probably be fairly knowledgeable and would be able to field a competitive squad by making some trades.

Am I missing something Shutes is going on about keeping 10 players maybe more, isn't there a limit of 5 ML and 5 minor league players? The 5 minor league players would not count against your next years salary cap just against your minor league draft money?

This poll will not be counted. I have already began collecting the fees from owners and rules such as this will not be changed.
We cannot be changing the core of the league rules now.

My bad Drunken Tanuki, didn't realize we were done with the rule changes, but that makes sense to not change anything for now. Sorry about the poll

No problem. We may still change some rules that would be minor, more clarification, or benefit the league, but we will be keeping the basic rules in tact.
